Parthasarathy Temple

Parthasarthy is the oldest temple Hindu Vaishnavite temple is dedicated to Lord Krishna located in the town of Guruvayur in Kerala. Temple is situated close to the Guruvayoor Railway Station. Lord Krishna is worshiped in the form of Arjuna’s Charioteer (Parthasarathy). This ancient temple is situated less than a kilometer distance from the famous Guruvayoor Sri Krishna temple.

Temple also has pooja for navagraha, Lord Ganesha, Lord Ayyappa, Rakshas and AdiSankara. Every year during the Ekadasi day, Sri Guruvayoorappan idol is brought as procession to Parthasarathy temple and later taken back along with SriKrishna and Arjuna idols to Guruvayoor temple.

Kallazhagar was worshiped by Yama, the Hindu god of death. He requested Vishnu to stay in the place and built a temple with the help of Vishwakarma, the divine architect. Kallazhagar is believed to have appeared to redeem sage Suthapava off his curse from sage Durvasa. The temple houses some rare Vijayanagara sculptures.

Dress Code Men: Traditional Mundu Allowed. Lungi, Shirt and Banian Not allowed inside Sanctum. Women: Saree, Set Mundu, Churidhaar, Skirts and Blouse allowed.
