The hills are so named for the Sufi saint Baba Budan. Legend has it that Baba Budan brought 7 coffee beans from Yemen and had planted and raised them here. He is credited with introducing coffee to India. The hills were spectacular and the Dattapeeta cave was fascinating. The cave contains his footwear and the place where he sat (originating from the word peeta, meaning to sit).
