Story about Prathyankara Devi : பிரத்யங்கரா தேவி உருவான கதை

At the beginning of the Treta Yuga, Narasimha, the fourth of the ten incarnations of Vishnu, killed Hiranyakasipu. Narasimha did not get rid of that anger and caused suffering to other beings as well. So the gods and sages prayed to Lord Shiva. According to the request, Lord Shiva took the form of "Sarabeswarar". But Narasimha in turn took the form of Gandaberunda and drowned Sarabesvara. On Shiva's prayer, Mahadevi assumed the form of Pratyangira, emerged from Sarabeswarar's head, and pacified Narasimha.

Atharva Veda is also known as "Atharva Angirasam". Angrasa Veda refers to witchcraft. "Atharvana Bhadrakali" is the Presiding Deity of Atharvaveda who supposedly destroyed Sarabheswara’s arrogance. Atharva Veda is also known as "Prati Angirasam" to break witchcraft. It is believed that this goddess got the name Prati + Angirasam = "Pratyangara" Devi because she breaks witchcraft.

If the victims of witchcraft visit this temple and worship, they will get rid of their suffering
