Agni Theertham is situated near to Ramanathaswamy temple, Rameshwaram. Inside of Ramanathaswamy temple 22 theerthams are there. Same as outside of this temple 22 theerthams there. Theerthams looks like as Pond or Well. Among that outside of temple theertham "Agni Theertham" is main theertham. It looks like "Part of the sea".

People bathe here to wash away their sins and offer tharpanam to the pitrus. Here , We can see lakhs of people at aadi amavasai to do tharpanam.

Ancient story about agni theertham: அக்னி தீர்த்தம் பற்றிய பழங்காலக் கதை:

In purana Ramayanam-After Raman Killed ravana, Raman to got rid from the "Pramhahasti dhosam" he took bath here. After Sita took "Agni pravesham", Lord Agni also got rid of his sin by taking bath here for the sin of touching Sita. That is why this Theertham is called "Agni Theertham".

Kashi Rameshwaram Yatra : காசி ராமேஸ்வரம் யாத்திரை

In yatra , Devotees first has to take bath agni theertham & take theertham ,sea sand .After that praying Ramanatha swamy .Then devotees has to go Kashi vishvanathar temple and do abishegam to kashi vishvathanar with agni theertham. Then take bath from Gangai theertham put agni theertha sea sand there and take ganga theertham. Next devotees comes to rameshwaram ramanathaswamy temple and do abhishegam to ramanathaswamy with gangai theertham.If this procedures done only Kashi Rameshwaram yatra to be end.
