Bhoga Nandeswara & Arunachaleswara Temple -இரட்டை கோவில்
Bhoganandiswara Temple and Arunachaleswara Temple are a twin Hindu temples complex located in village at the foothills of Nandi Hills in Chikkaballapur. Ornate, beautifully carved and dedicated to Shiva, they have been variously dated between the 9th- to 10th-century.
The remains of the Nolamba dynasty can be seen in this temple. The original temple dates back to the 9th century, the temple was later under the patronage of South Indian dynasties like the Gangas, Cholas, Hoysalas and the Vijayanagara Empire.
North side temple is Bhoganandiswara Temple. This has a idol of Chola dynasty Shiva linga and idol for Rajendra chola so devotees beliefs that this temple built by Chola dynasty.
South side temple is Arunachaleswara Temple was built by Ganga dynasty. The “Ugra Ganapati” shrine in the “Arunachaleswara” temple complex is another rare yet marvelous structure.
There is a Nandi mandapa with a massive sculpted bull or Nandi in front of each shrine.
Center shire is Uma Maheshwara Temple. This temple was built by Hoysala dynasty. This shrine with a Kalyana mandapa (“marriage altar”) supported by intricate pillars in black stone. The carving of a multitude of parrots on these pillars is a unique feature that is quite outstanding.
The dome sculptures of the twin temples, Bhoga Nandiswara and Arunachaleswara Temple, are almost identical.
