Chakra Theertham is located near the Sila Thorana and is 2 to 3 km from the Tirumala shrine. There is Swayambu Lingam at this place. It is believed that Balaji wanted to clean this place for Brahma to do penance. So he made Vishnu's Sudarshana Chakra fall at a place, and the place turned into a small valley and looked like a pond. It is also believed that Lord Brahma performed penance in it. It was later called Chakra Thirtha. Bathing in this pond is believed to wash away your sins.
The abhishekam of the main deity in the Tirupati Balaji Temple is performed using the water from the Akasha Ganga in Tirumala. There was a story behind formation of theertham.
