The Gavipuram Government Kannada Model Primary School, where Superstar Rajinikanth studied from 1954 to 1959 is ready to collapse at any moment. The school which is located at Kempe Gowda Nagar in Bangalore has been in bad shape since few years and now the walls might collapse any minute. When the condition of the school building was brought to the notice of Superstar, he promised to donate Rs 25 lakhs for the renovation of the school. Although Rs 86 lakh was allotted by the Karnataka government for constructing a new building for the school, not a single penny has been released till date. Rajini's donation would reach the school authorities only after the work of the new building begins.
The Karnataka State Rajiniji Seva Samithi is making efforts to save their Superstar's school. "The school building should be demolished immediately, before it collapse on its own. We approached everyone, but none of them have payed heeds to our appeal. We would stage a protest before Chief Minister's residence, if the construction of the new building is delayed further. Rajini's contribution would be used to povide facilities like library and computers for the school," said Murgan, Karnataka State Rajiniji Seva Samithi president.
Around 300 children were studying in this school, which is spread in a area of 3,500 square feet.
105-year-old government primary school at Gavipuram in Guttahalli. The school, which has also been a part of veteran actor Rajinikanth's initial schooling days in Bengaluru, was built in 1913.
