The ThiruPuliyur Mahavishnu Temple(also called Mayapiran and Thirupuliyurappan temple) is a Hindu temple dedicated to Vishnu, located in Puliyoor, Alappuzha District, Kerala. This temple is Constructed in the Kerala style of architecture. The temple is one of the 108 Divya Desams.
The seven sages - Atri, Vasishtar, Kashyapar, Gautamar, Bharadvajar, Vishvamitra, and Jamadagni got the seva of this Maayapiraan along with porkodi Naachiyaar and through Indra, it is said that all these Saptarishis got their Mukti towards the emperuman. It is said that this Place is constructed and built by Bhima, one of the Pandavas. In Sree Kovil (Sanctum Sanctorum of the Temple) there is a unique Vishnu idol, is facing east in a standing posture, with four arms
The temple pond at ThiruPuliyur is named as - Poonchunai Tirtham. The temple is administered by Travancore Devaswom Board of the Government of Kerala. There are no historical records to indicate when the temple was built. As per local legend, the temple was believed to have been initially built by Saptarishis and renovated by Bhima.
