Avani Ramalingeshwara Temple, Kolar , Karnataka
The Ramalingeshwara group of temples is situated in Avani, Kolar, Karnataka .This temple is constructed in the dravidan style. According to the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), the temple is an ornate 10th-century Nolamba dynasty construction which was partially renovated later by the Chola dynasty. The Vijayanagara kings was built Main Mandapam and Rajagopuram.
Avani is a place of historical importance depicting events of Ramayana. The temple complex comprises four major shrines, one each for Rama, Lakshmana, Bharata and Shatrughna. There are other minor shrines, such as those for Vali and Sugriva, Devi Parvati, Navagragha, Anjaneya and more. But most of the shrines have the Big Idol of Lord Shiva. Most of the shrines ceiling has wonderful carvings. In some shrines outside wall Tamil inscriptions are there.
This temple has a temple tank. Avani lake also situated near to this temple.
