Avani Betta

Avani Betta historical trekking place | Weekend Trip From Bangalore To Kolar by Bike | Birth Place of LUV and KUSH

Avani Betta Sita Temple situated on the top hill of this area. This temple is dedicated to the Devi Sita the most alluring character of the Ramayana. It is said that Sita and her two sons, Lava and Kusha born & resided in Avani Betta Kolar during her exile in the forest area.

This place is even considered to be the south Gaya, where the ancient temples majorly known as Ramalingeshwara, Shatrugneshwara, Lakshmaneshwara and Bharateshwara were found in the ancient temples.

Trekking is one of the most amazing things that you can explore to visit Avani Betta. This hillock has step curves which are a little difficult to climb but if you are trek lover you will make it through. While climbing on the mountains ranges the surrounded huge boulders are witnessed which is noticed for 3-4 billion years ago.

There is the Valmiki ashram, a cave where Sita delivered the twins, Luva and Kusha, midway of the hill. The Luva Kusha cave is full of holes and beating these holes gives a copper or iron vessel sound. It is believed the vessels used has fossilized and turned into rock.

You will notice a huge shape of burger bread rocks created mainly due to the natural process of erosion. It is on every edge of the trek on the way to the hilltop of Avani Betta.

Kudure gundi – where the Ashwamedha Horse was tied up Agni Teertha, Lakshman Teertha – small water pools. Since there was no source of water Lakshman had carved out a pool with his arrow
